We, at ScaleupAlly, would love to share what one of our talent pool members thinks about us and how one feels about being a part of our organization.

About Mohit Singhal

Top Talent @ ScaleupAlly

Mohit is a professional PHP Developer with industry experience for the past 10 years. He is connected with ScaleupAlly as one of the top talents in our talent pool.

Read what Mohit Singhal has to say about us. Here we go with the questions asked:

1. Top 3 things that you look for in a soul-nourishing career.

I have been in the software industry for the past 10 years, and a few things that I am looking to accomplish in this journey is a balanced life, freedom of thinking, continuous learning, and financial stability. After a couple of years, I also wish to do a startup for which I am preparing with every passing day of my work-life.

2. How does ScaleupAlly help you in accomplishing the same?

Let me tell you a story. Covid-19 has affected all of our lives. Thousands of employees have been laid off from the companies due to a lack of projects. I come from a freelance culture, where job security is always an issue. A couple of months ago, all my clients had withdrawn, and my finances started shaking. Few days down the line, I came across a Facebook post that described how ScaleupAlly was increasing its Talent Network. After a few screenings and interview calls, I found myself a brand new client (or better say, a partner) that allows me to freelance with a certain sense of security.  ScaleupAlly brings stable work and allows me to operate more as a partner than just a freelance guy. My finances grew again, and I was back to the balanced life with my knight in shining armor- Scaleup Ally!! One of my networks also gave me a fascinating insight into the company, and i.e., these guys (Scaleup Ally) didn’t fire anyone during the pandemic. The in-house people even got appraisals and bonuses- a scarce characteristic in these times.

3. Why do you like being a freelancer? What challenges have you come across in your freelance journey?

It seems like you’re going to make me revisit the 10 years of my journey in this interview. (chuckling) I hope you’re ready to hear a few more chapters of my life.
Let’s trace back to the days when I had just started my professional journey with TCS. Working with a multinational organization taught me many things, including how to gather requirements, what is the perfect way of doing things, and obviously how to grow a network. However, nothing is ever one-sided. After having worked with TCS for 4 years, I realized there was a lot of office politics; people weren’t getting promoted because of their skillset, but connections. The work-life was quite simple, and exposure was negligible. After that, I switched to a small-scale company, I got exposure, but the project’s size and less scope of learning new technologies made me rethink the direction I was heading into. This is where freelancing came in Exposure, no politics, learning, and, most importantly, freedom of switching between technologies as per my wish. I wanted to increase my learning radius and operate in a lively atmosphere, which is why I am a Freelancer now.
Now comes the second part of the question and the second story. Back in 2015, I was working with a client who had explained the project requirements on Whatsapp. I had begun working as per his instructions, but after 2 weeks, he pointed out too many errors in the submitted task. He said my work wasn’t aligning with his stated requirements, which wasn’t a very true statement on his hand. No payments were obvious. It doesn’t make any sense to find out who was right and who was wrong. However, one thing was sure here, and that was the absence of robust processes and systems. I am nowhere saying that I faced this issue every time, but this one time showed inconsistency and the absence of something concrete.

4. How do you think ScaleupAlly helps you meet the issues you were facing as a lone wolf?

Going by the incident mentioned above, I can undoubtedly say that a helping hand with robust processes wouldn’t have compromised my 2 weeks of effort and money. Scaleup Ally is this partner, which allows me to work with big shots by bringing new projects and allowing me to focus on what I do best, i.e. Dev. These guys take care of all admin activities. Manu is always present in the client calls, which doesn’t give rise to confusion. There is a system that filters everything before the tasks are delegated to freelancers, and hence both time and effort are optimally utilized.

5. How ScaleupAlly helps in mastering your skills

I am getting scalable projects as per my skill set. The team I work with comes from diversified backgrounds and hence comes an opportunity to broaden my perspective, both professionally and personally. Also, Manu, the guy I am supposed to report, is a very supporting personality. His charisma and calm attitude help me quickly get through every odd ] situation, be it something written between the lines of code or a missed deadline.

6. Meeting Madness- what’s your takeaway on this phrase while keeping Scaleup Ally in mind?

Sorry, I can’t relate, because there is no such situation to support. The agile planning process eliminates any redundancies and allows me to focus on my tasks instead of energy-draining calls.

Stay tuned to our blog for more feedback sessions from our team members.
