Employee Feedback Session with Aditya Goswami

By Aditya Goswami inLife at ScaleupAlly

Nourishing superb employee experience is the top concern for any organization across the world. But how to know how you fare as a company? Are you able to engage the team members? Do they feel connected? Is there any aspect that needs a change at the workplace? All these questions and many more get addressed by one crucial activity called EMPLOYEE FEEDBACK.

Feedback from an employee matters a lot. It acts as a source of motivation and encouragement for the company owners. It puts an organization to evolve for the better. It fosters a positive work atmosphere. It helps to build a closely connected community where every opinion matters. People feel motivated for better performance when their feedback is respected.

For us, the growth partners at ScaleupAlly feedback from our workmates has always mattered. We feel feedback allows us the opportunity to know our strengths and weaknesses. Employee feedback practice this month has been greeted with overwhelming responses. Colleagues shared their views about the company and what has been their experience at ScaleupAlly.

About Aditya Goswami

Read what Aditya Goswami has to say about us. Here we go with the questions asked:

1. Top 3 things that you look for in a soul-nourishing career.

I hail from a journalism background, and since my college days, I have always wanted to own a startup. Before coming to Scaleup Ally, I have also done internships in some famous startups like MilkBasket. To run my own company with the utmost flexibility and a healthy atmosphere is the satiating point of my career. Continuing to raise my learning curve and striving my abilities to higher scales is one of the most important things that I look for in a soul-nourishing career.

2. Starting your journey from startups to a dream of having a startup of your own- Can you list the top 3 pain points that you have encountered so far?

It hasn’t been long since I started working, but the past 2- years of the corporate atmosphere have given me insights into my persona and the world around me. Before joining Scaleup Ally, the companies I was involved in bared my intense pain points. There have been times where I felt my opinions were being suppressed due to my juniority. The lack of bonding and incompatibility with the company executives often make me feel like a bystander and not an integrated part of the culture. Due to my lazy attitude and lack of knowledge, I often missed work deadlines. Also, my habit of planning ahead in time sometimes overwhelms my mind and dreads me to do too much at a time.

3. Has Scaleup Ally ever addressed these pain points of yours? If yes, then how?

Yes, Scaleup Ally has helped in addressing my issues in a very optimistic manner. The fast-growing startup offered me numerous opportunities and duties out of my job description. Regardless of the position a person holds in the company, he/she has an equal say in the company’s decisions. Coming from a non-tech background, I faced a lot of issues in understanding my work and missed deadlines because of the same. However, the friendly atmosphere and supportive mentors like Manu guided me at every step, whether personal or professional. I am also aspiring to commence an MBA in the year 2021. Many-a times, employees hide their long-term goals like further studies or business plans from their current employer in fear of getting fired or not receiving promotions and due respect. However, in Scaleup Ally, I have shared my aspirations with my colleagues and seniors openly, and they have always supported me. In fact, Manu also guides me about the various exams I can write for the MBA entrance. When the whole country started operating remotely due to the deadly virus, I was facing a lot of struggle adjusting to this work from home mode. During this situation, my friends (yes, I call them friends because they behave like ones) supported me in every possible way.

4. What are your takeaways in the company's culture?

Scaleup Ally is a fast-growing startup, and we are a team of 15 people and expanding rapidly. The atmosphere is amiable, and people come from diverse parts of the country. Inculcated with team spirit, we at Scaleup Ally celebrate all sorts of festivals together. From filling our dish plates with more than our appetite to welcoming newbies in our circle, Scaleup Ally is not a typical corporate office, but a life to enjoy.

5. That's so pleasant to hear. So Aditya, did ScaleupAlly happen to give you the autonomy to make decisions?

Yes, I have had the opportunity to interact with clients and take some major decisions like Budget Estimation to minor decisions like posting content on site, bidding projects, and discussing the feature-set with developers. My work was never just confined to my JD, and I got chances to SCALE-UP my Skills!

6. You seem to really like Scaleup Ally! So, do you see yourself working with the company for 5 years from now? If so, what would be your expected designations?

Definitely yes. I love this company as it has offered me so much early in my career. I want to start my MBA next year and then have my own startup. Even though I have my plans that are going to part my ways with the company, I plan to come back as a collaborator if I succeed in my startup or as a marketing guy (some manager, fingers crossed) if, unfortunately, my thing doesn’t cross the valley.

7. Is there something you want to change about Scaleup Ally?

Please get us a bigger lunch area (pleading!!!) 😛

8. Is there something you would like to add upon in your journey with Scaleup Ally?

At Scaleup Ally, I have learned a lot of things, be it playing the role of PM when the tech-leads are busy with other priorities, or giving a final test to our launched products for any errors. I got to experience a lot, which is preparing me for the future.

Stay tuned to our blog for more feedback sessions from our team members.
