Code, Courage, and Confidence: Sapna Jain’s Transformative Journey

Let us introduce Sapna Jain from Kota, Rajasthan. Her schooling was substantially influenced by her family, especially her siblings. So, after having finished schooling, she did her graduation and completed her post-graduation from the same college as her brother. His guidance played an important role in influencing her choice to pursue a career in technology which finally directed her professional journey.

Early Career: The Android Developer

Sapna started her professional life as an Android Developer in Jaipur, CnEL  India. It used to take a tiring 20 km each way and over 12 hours of work and travel every day. She felt lucky to join the company at a time when they were expanding into Android Development. She was initially the only person in this department. So this unique situation also gave her the opportunity to put her skills to test and find her dexterity for team management as the department grew.

Although she had a very tempting offer to remain in CnEL , she wanted newer challenges and hence joined another firm. Later, she found herself in unfamiliar domains with little support and quickly realized that it wasn’t a good fit.

The ScaleupAlly Chapter

One time, she had a candid conversation with Manu Sir, voicing her frustrations, for which she was suggested to take up a freelance project with ScaleupAlly, and there she successfully delivered her work that led to the launching of an app on the App Store. This revived her confidence, and she decided to go full-time with ScaleupAlly.

It was this opportunity that introduced her to Flutter, a new technology for developing applications for both Android and iOS. The experience thus turned out to be one of transformation; later on, she took up numerous roles of Project Manager, Team Lead, and Developer.

Embracing Challenges and Growth

She got the chance to lead a team herself and work closely with the clients directly, which proved to be an eye-opener. One incident that has stayed in her memory is when a critical issue was pointed out by the client, and to that, Manu Sir said, “Don’t let yourself drift off to sleep without addressing this.” Those words had kindled a fire inside her. “I put in an entire night to resolve it, and the pride I felt when the solution got presented was priceless. The sparkle in Manu Sir’s eye on acknowledgment made it special even more,” She reminisces.

A Word of Advice for the To-Be-Analysts

When she looks back, she knows that technology is perforce demanding. One has to invite lifelong learning into this field. One must recognize their strength and draw a path that resonates with them and never out of fear or external pressure. Be authentic and do not just imitate others.

Learning does not stop with formal education. “I have learned so much from my seniors, juniors and teammates, soaking in their experiences and insight. Every interaction has been a lesson in growth for me,” reveals Sapna.
