From an Attentive Student to Scaleup Slayer: The Marketing Odyssey of Nitya
Nitya Chauhan is the all-rounder at ScaleupAlly, raised in Rai Bareilly, attended Amity Lucknow, and was thrown head-first during her college days into a world full of possibilities, especially in Tech.
And, well, Nitya isn’t your typical high schooler. Sure, academics just weren’t really her thing, but deep beneath, something brewed-a fascination for all things Tech. It started with her uncle, a software engineer who had this magic wand called a laptop. Inspired, Nitya defied the traditional path. Him juggling his laptop and deadlines piqued her interest, and in 9th grade, she chose Computer Science over Commerce. Spoiler alert! She was never the maths whiz kid, but she started finding her rightful direction.
Finding Career Path
But here’s the thing, Nitya wasn’t some hard-core coding connoisseur. Her nemesis, mathematics, loomed large. Yet, her resolution refused to be deterred. Opting for a BCA, she aced her chosen field, thereby proving once again that sometimes it is just a question of ‘right fit’.
However, college had something in store for her much bigger than conquering academics. In the following years, her college launched a Campus Ambassador Program. And Nitya was a natural choice with her consistent performance. Suddenly, the world of business meetings and global connections opened a completely unique experience, and a new passion flowered.
The fact that she loved the “behind-the-scenes” led her straight into a Business Development role, where she could literally devour everything digital marketing, lead generation-the whole shebang. For a hungry learner, this was a dream come true, supported by an encouraging manager who became a mentor.
Her career kicked off in 2019 with a digital marketing company in Noida. She started with small tasks, but her manager saw her potential and took her under his wing. His mentorship was worth its weight in gold, and she prospered in that supportive atmosphere.
Yet, nothing in life moves along a straight line.
Then came the deadly pandemic, and the same year Nitya’s mentor took a leap, and started his own company. Loyalty convinced her, and she joined him. Valuable startup experience only grew the urge stronger to explore yet another kind of work culture. But then the next stop turned out to be frustratingly a lesson in micromanagement. Stifled creativity and rigid approach-the complete opposite of Nitya’s free-flowing spirit. Then she took a month sabbatical from all the chaos, and that turned out to be most necessary as a mental health break. It was one of those days when she actually thought of how she would want her career to look like.
The ScaleupAlly Chapter
Then came ScaleupAlly. Three rounds of interviews, and she joined the team! Most importantly, the turnaround was when she asked if she was open to learning, and instinctively she knew this was it.
It was right here, a company that valued exploration, a place she could experiment with and wear numerous hats, from lead generation, strategy sales, and project management, the list is endless.
The autonomy given is an empowering one. She entered new markets from Australia to the Middle East, adapting to the various cultural and business nuances of each place. Each experience taught her something, in Sales and Marketing, the name of the game was experimentation. It’s just one continuous cycle of trying, failing, and learning, and then again trying with equal zeal.
But by far, the biggest learning curve came with Staff Augmentation. It was almost like running her own mini-company, from market research to the onboarding of vendors right down to the thrill, and sometimes getting the exposure of international leads.
What Makes Scaleupally Stand Out?
Nitya loves a few things about ScaleupAlly:
1. Cooperative Approach: The manner in which ScaleupAlly has built its team, the very core of everybody is cooperation.
2. Humble Founders: It is they who have modest roots, and that infuses more seriousness into the whole company.
3. Growth Opportunities: Let you experiment, give you freedom to explore your strengths and grow. Even if you fall, they have got your back.
4. Learning Opportunities: Emphasis on professional growth and free discussions.
A Word of Advice for the To-be-Marketers
Have fun but stay authentic and sincere to your work. Always be open to learning and new opportunities. Marketing’s just like a roller coaster; it has ups and downs, so enjoy the ride!
Way Ahead
Nitya’s story is but a reflection of evolution going on with sales and marketing. It’s a world that’s continuous in learning and experimenting, respectively, with the ride upwards of success harnessed therewith. Through it all, her infectious personality, love of learning, and self-awareness have been her guiding lights.
She has a jolly nature outside of work and enjoys reading and colouring books. Oh, and did we not mention her hidden talents? Nitya is a “good storyteller” and loves to crack jokes. Who knows, maybe the marketing world will soon have to share the spotlight with the world of laughter!
In a nutshell, thereby, from finding her place in this dynamic world to staying authentic, she looks forward to what the future may hold. Here’s to more learning, more laughter, and maybe a few punchlines en route!
